What is known today as the Grand Bank Regional Theatre began as an idea by a few individuals of the community. They thought it would be nice to "put off a show" about the local history. The shows venue was the kitchen in one of the town's heritage buildings and maximum capacity was 20 people. That was eighteen years ago. In seventeen years there have been at least four different venues before finding a home in the historic Samuel J. Harris building. The umbrella company that produces the theatre, Lighthouse Productions Inc. was incorporated in 2005. After being shifted from one arm of the municipality to another, the theatre was finally able to operate as a separate entity.
